2 Years on

My last post here back on November 22nd was not the last of the let’s call it “adventure” we had dealing with Metricon...

The day after the post it was supposed to be walkthrough ready for handover..and

They failed

Miserably

The stairs were not finished

Painting was not finished

The Bathtub in the main bathroom was not fitted correctly with gaps at the end between the bath and tiles...

We gave up after that and told them to fix everything and the fun was taken out of the blog where it then seemed a chore and i had other things happening as well..

Lucy and I got married a week later and the assurances from the site managers and construction managers that we would have a home to move into after our wedding was not even close.. In fact we got the keys a month later a week before Christmas 2011

Now after living in the home for two years you really get to appreciate the quality of the builder or in our case the absolute lack of quality, from now I will start showing the world some of the crap workmanship and surprises I have found since living in a Metricon Home.

Day 281 (Week 41) [+57]

The Painter returned today do do a second coat on the front of the house, and he completed it just in time as the rain came tumbleing down... Also and FINALLY... they started to repair the bath tub in the main bathroom... just intime for our walk through tomorrow.

Day 280 [+56]

Workers were onsite today with a fair bit of work done to the outside. - Painter painted the downpipes and the front of the house (the right colour this time) the angle plates we installled above the doors and windows. and some trimming added to where it was needed on the balcony. Also the Expansion Joints were sealed and siliconed up!

they may just make it by wednesday for our PC walkthrough.....

Day 274 (Week 40) [+50]

Well Metricon decided to pull their finger out and actually organise some work for the house... the painter returned to site as well as the balcony guy to fix off the stainless steel barrier. Termite protection lookslike it was mostly installed too..

Day 273 [+49]

Today the cleaners returned to clean the second half of the front yard... and there was a meeting onsite with the construction team...Maybe they were figuring out how to stuff things up even more, because it is pretty clear they are in no rush to deliver the house anymore... Metricon are wasting time and have a book of excuses. they still cannot tell us a date for practical completion...when they decide to call us back that is.!

Sunday = No Work Day (like alot of the other days recently)

Not A Single Solitary Person Stepped on site today. Still no sign of the painter.. Lucy didnt even want to visit... There really isnt a point if the builder cannot be bothered to get any trades out to do any work...

today was to be the revised date for out practical completion walk through... but it was cancelled as the house is not in a state to be presented (no kidding its not finished)

with the scaffold coming down and the cleaners were on site to clean up the inside of the house.. and it did scrub up pretty nice.

still a bit of work to do however..when will it be finished?? good question... i have no idea and no one can tell us.

Day 267 (Week 39) [+43]

 The days just keep ticking over and so does the lack of progress on the house... some would think they have never built a house before. Nothing Today...Again

Absolutly Nothing!!

not a happy person right now.. and to top it off they can not even tell us when they will finish the house..

Sunday today and after the tilers were onsite yesterday i though maybe... just maybe the painters may just be on site today..

But No...Expected...but Disapointing

I dont think Metricon are serious about finishing the house for us.

wow 40 days over the original contracted date.. this is a very very disapointing milestone to reach, and it saddens me every time i look at the house...

But when i walk through it i am reminded how nice a house it is.. a shame the builders have no pride..

Today the Tilers were on site Grouting the floors of the wet areas.. the bathrooms are starting to look really good.

Wow a disapointing day today it was supposed to be our practical completion walkthrough today but we have not heard a single peep form anyone from Metricon to confirm or explain why it did not happen.,

Not a single trade was on site either :(

Tilers Returned to site today and they laid the tiles on our Balcony and Porch, the colours have tuned out really well.. They also grouted the tiles in the kitchen.

well another step backwards today with the bathtub in the ensuite removed.....That was all.. i would not even call it a day where work was completed on site

A very disapointing day since we were told two weeks ago that the house would be transformed before our eyes... "Practical Completion" is on friday so they tentativly told us... but i can not see that happening.

Tilers returned to site today and they laid the beds for the exterior tiles on the porch and balcony

Today saw the balcony get fixed (I Hope) and the waterproofing re-done ready for tiling. The tassie oak dressing was also finished on the underside..

I do Really hope it is fixed properly this time

Sunday Again today and not a single sole onsite working.

Today saw a carpenter onsite to start fitting off the door furniture also our electricity was connected the house is now alive!!
